This web site defines an active member as a member who has a complete profile (avatar and member info) and logs into the community at least once every 90 days.

This web site actively deletes expired user accounts. This site uses an active member definition to manage inactive accounts. If a member account is inactive after 90 days they will receive an email noting their inactivity and asking if we can assist them in any way. We will also inform them of the active member policy. After 180 days of inactivity a second email will be issued stating that unless there is activity in the next seven days we will consider this account an expired account. After the seven days is up, we will delete the expired account. The member is welcome to rejoin at any time in the future unless their account has been discontinued for misuse of the web site.

Privacy & Security

The privacy of our members is of utmost importance to the Synergy Commons community. Synergy Commons will take reasonable technical and organizational precautions to ensure confidentiality and prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal data.

We collect the following types of member information: name, country, ministry interests and affiliations. For security purposes members can use a pseudonym to protect their identity.

This information is used to administer, personalize and enable your access to and use of the site. This information is also displayed in member profiles that are controlled and managed exclusively by members who choose what to share with other members.

We do not share member information with other organizations, websites or for any purpose other than to facilitate member communications and your participation within the community.

The majority of the content on the community site is available to the public. Groups, forums and other interactions may be private or hidden. “Private” means that the group itself is visible in the groups directory, but that members must request (and be approved) to join the group. Private group content is visible only to other members of the group. “Hidden” means that the group is not visible in the groups directory and that other members must be invited to join the group. Hidden group content is visible and accessible only by invited members.

Synergy Commons will take reasonable technical and organizational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal data. All personal information and website interactions entered into on this site are protected by encryption technology and – if kept – are stored in encrypted, secure servers.

We use multiple spam prevention measures to protect the community from member and internet advertising, requests for support, and spam. For member-based advertising and requests for support, our first level of prevention is our member guidelines that all member’s agree to follow when they register. If we see or hear of any members who are not following these guidelines, that member is contacted by a community manager and the guidelines are explained. If the behavior continues or is egregious, the member is removed from the community. In the case of third-party spam, we use multiple technologies throughout the registration process to prevent spambots or spam software from registering as a member. If the spammer is human and they defeat the registration safeguards, we review all new registrations in order to identify potential spammers who are then removed from the site. We also employ industry-standard comment and blacklist key word services to monitor and remove all inappropriate comments automatically.

This site is hosted on hardened 3rd party servers managed by a reputable third party hosting service. The servers, databases, and web site are security monitored 24×7 by a 3rd party monitoring service. All plugins are regularly updated to prevent security vulnerabilities. The web site uses industry standard username / password protocols to protect members. All web page transactions are encrypted using SSL. Databases containing any stored community information are fully encrypted. The web site allows members to use a “public name” and control how much information they make visible to visitors and other members. Forums can be public, private or hidden to provide additional levels of security and privacy. The site is regularly backed up and can be quickly restored on-demand.
