Tomorrow rushes toward you, sometimes faster than the speed of thought. You don’t know what to pay attention to. You don’t know what to ignore? How can you inoculate yourself against being overwhelmed by the rate of change?
As network facilitators, we experience this all the time as needs change and we attempt to help our networks try to make sense of and take action amidst changing circumstances, new information, and shifting priorities.
Some of the most powerful tools facilitators have at their disposal during times of uncertainty and change are their sense of curiosity and powerful questions.
This 60 minute webinar / workshop from Human Systems Design (HSD) looks at how to inquire deeply into the present so you can prepare for the future. It shows you how to approach these challenges with a spirit of curiosity and inquiry.
In this workshop, Dr. Glenda Eoyang specifically shares six questions for dealing with uncertainty. These six questions can be used to help a group make sense of an uncertain situation and find a creative way to take action.
Six Questions for Dealing with Uncertainty
- What are three things you notice right now?
- What Do you want to stay the same? What do you want to change?
- What contradictions do you see?
- What do you know for sure (now) and what is it that you wonder about?
- What has surprised you recently?
- Now What?
In this webinar / workshop, Dr. Eoyang explains the sequence and purpose of each question and how these questions help a group work prioritize their efforts or decide on an actionable outcome.
